How Great I Am?
Bismillah. Assalammualaikum.
Let me start my very first ever post in blog throughout my life with a post about inspiration in sport and "how great I am?". Let us look at some of Muhammed Ali's words before his 1974 match against George Foreman ( I am not sure if the year is correct):
"Imma show you, how great I am.
Last night, I cut the light off in my bedroom and was in bed before the room was dark.
Imma show you, how great I am.
Only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick.
I'm so mean, I make medicine sick.
Imma show you, how great I am.
This kid's gonna be the best kid in the world.
This kid's gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew.
Imma show you, how great I am.
I have wrestled with an alligator, I done tussled with a whale, I done handcuffed lightnin', thrown thunder in jail.
Imma show you, how great I am.
All you chumps are gonna bow when I whoop him, all of you.
I know you got him, I know you've got him picked, but the man's in trouble. Imma show you how great I am.”
This inspirational words spoke by Muhammed Ali right before the match in 1974 really shocked me! It pushing me to ponder what does it takes to be a great man? Sacrifices? Money? Killing? Serious Injury? Or what? By all means Muhammed Ali had proved to the world that his sacrifices to be a world boxing champion is not a waste. Often referring to himself as The Greatest, Ali was not afraid to sing aloud his own praises. He was known for boasting about his skills before a fight and for his colorful phrases.
The story about Muhammed Ali teach me that we as a human can always be a great man. when the definition of great man is not being misunderstood or exagerrated, greatness applies to any of individuals who is better than all others. In other words, the particular person who possesses clear advantage over others.
Other people who think they are not so special unlike those great people, keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that but the really great people make you fell that you too can become great. Bear in mind that be not afraid trying to be great. Some are created by God and born great, some achieve greatness just in peace without struggle and others have greatness thrust upon them.
Lastly, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi saying about being a great man. " The greatness of humanity is not in being human, but in being humane". Thus, I end my post here. Hopefully this post will arouse our spirit to involve in sports no matter hard the hurdle is, focus and concentrate!
Wasalam!
